What is Riverfront Golden?
Riverfront Golden respects the spirit of this place, taking its lead from the authenticity of people that call it home. It is a simple, creative way to explore the possibilities for the land, the water and the people.
Riverfront Golden includes places to play, to work, to rest, to learn and to live. It is for everyone and leverages unique geography toward a sustainable place for its local flora, fauna and people. It honours the community’s past, learns from places around the world, and supports a prosperous future.
Riverfront Golden is a positive and inclusive vision for today and allows adaptation for the needs of tomorrow – a place where residential and commercial activities can co-exist harmoniously and in a mutually beneficial way. The concepts outlined respect rural, urban, resort and mountain living, making it as enjoyable a place to visit, as it is to live.

Why Participate in the Conversation?
The conversation has begun. Opportunities to leverage external support or participate in very large projects have come and gone (potential re-purposing of the old Highway 1 corridor, Bridge 2 Bridge, etc.). The community of Golden & Area A needs to look forward to what possibilities lay ahead.
Living through economic boom and bust, one has countless conversations with other residents about what was, what is and what could become of this community. Some good, some bad. And after a while, when it becomes evident that no single person, group or government is mandated to evaluate, choose, plan for and execute these options, one realizes that these conversations are for naught. One group will have an idea, find funding and execute a small project, possibly limiting a future strategic alternative for the entire community to pursue. Inertia for change will be restricted and resources, in the form of people and money, will flow elsewhere to communities that make this type of planning a priority; where the future is bright.
Over the last few years, our community has become even more divided between those concerned about the bottom line and those looking for future economic opportunities. The reality is that without economic opportunity, young people will not stay in the community and there will be no young people to pass the history on to because there won't be reasons for them to stay or care.
If Golden & Area A wishes to have any chance of determining our future, it is time to discuss our possibilities today. For it is only when possibilities become priorities that plans can take shape and resources dedicated. The sum of a well-conceived, grassroots plan is greater than its parts and everyone has a chance, and responsibility to participate in the evolution of Golden's riverfront culture.
